Located in the Basque Country, the Maison des Langues gives you the opportunity to discover or improve your Basque language beforehand - why not! - to meet this language with a very rich heritage.
Out of simple curiosity or with the idea of reconnecting with your origins, with a leisure or rather professional objective, whether you are a beginner or experienced, you will appreciate the learning in small groups or the conversation lessons given at the Maison des Langues. If you want to arouse your child's curiosity about languages and offer them an extracurricular approach, this is also possible for the Basque language.
Our tailor-made courses are suitable for all ages (children, teenagers, students, adults and retirees) and all levels. Our groups, of a maximum of 10 people, ensure optimal learning conditions.
Leisure Basque lessons
Our first lesson is used to test your level, and, if necessary, direct you to another niche where you will be more comfortable. Our courses, focused on literature, art, society or even economics, will allow youto learn new points with each encounterandto remain interested in learning one of the oldest languages in the world.General objectives:
- Acquire or develop oral fluency, depending on the level
- Develop oral and written comprehension
- Raising awareness of foreign cultures and contemporary societal issues
Group formula - 2019-2020 member: €55/month, €550 per year (from September to June). Rates subject to change depending on the size of the group, contact us.

Individual Basque lessons
Our individual Basque lessons aretailor-made and adapted to the learner. As such, you will choose the format (distance, face-to-face, or both), the number of hours, and we will create the learning program together.
It is also totally possible to combine individual lessons and group sessions.
We can also offer you suitable courses in our resource center, where you can take advantage of numerous supports.
Unique formula, 45€ per hour.
Conversation in Basque
Our Basque conversation workshops are ideal to complement lessons or maintain / develop your oral skillsand learn vocabulary.
For one hour, around a subject brought by the teacher, who guides you throughout the workshop, you can talk in Basque with a group.
However, you need a certain fluency in speaking (B1) for this exercise to be effective. General objectives:
- Develop and improve oral fluency
- Develop oral comprehension
- Raising awareness of foreign cultures and contemporary societal issues
Group formula: €30/month, €300 per year (September to June)
Resource Center in Bayonne
Our Resource Center is available to our members! Central place of the association, it is the main room of our premises.
You can consult newspapers, local information, literary works (all in a foreign language!) or learning manuals in each language that we offer, to complement your lessons. We also provide you with computers connected to the Internet, which you can freely use on our sofa or at one of our tables.
If you are not coming to work on your languages, you can come and say hello to us over a coffee or a tea that we will prepare for you with pleasure.
This is also where we keep the board games that we use during events!
Professional training
Our professional training can take place online or on our premises, and welcome groups of up to 10 people.
Individual Basque lessons
We will study your needs and expectations together and thus build an adapted and individualized program. An initial level test will be carried out, and a Bright certification will be given at the end of the course.

An audit will be carried out beforehand to collect the needs of each employee and atailor-made program will be created by us. An initial level test for each employee will be carried out, and a Bright certificationwill be given to each at the end of the course.

- Face-to-face, distance or hybrid courses: focused on oral production with a qualified and experienced trainer (reverse class system, reception activities are encouraged outside of attendance time).
- Distance LearningDevice, in support of face-to-face courses
- Resource Center: access to paper and digital media during the association's opening hours, with the presence of a qualified person who can guide the trainee in his research/work independently.
- Individual coaching in addition to semi-group lessons: throughout the training, the trainee benefits from professional advice to enable him to make the most of his free time.
